The Heading Bug

While there is no actual bugs involved, the Heading Bug is a very important piece of avionics in just about every aircraft imaginable. Not only does it show your heading (duh), but it typically has a heading setting where you can set the heading you intend to fly and then at a glance be able to see if you're on course. In more sophisticated systems, this heading bug can also be connected to the autopilot, such that when you adjust your heading, the autopilot will then turn the plane to the newly set heading.
