This plane is a 5th gen multirole, with three variants (at least initially) lettered A, B, and C. The A was for the Air Force, the B for the USMC, and the C for the Navy. Each have their own distinct features that make them unique. The F-35A is more nimble in its aerobatics, the F-35B is famous for its STOVL capabilities, and the F-35C is the variant with bigger wings that fold up and bulky landing gear to take the forces involved with carrier landings.
